Scotland’s Retinal Revolution

A collaborative initiative in Scotland, the Scottish Collaborative Optometry–Ophthalmology Network eResearch (SCONe), has compiled over one million retinal images to enhance early diagnosis and research into diseases like age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and dementia. Established by the University of Edinburgh and Glasgow Caledonian University, and supported by various funding partners, this project has created a world-class data resource housed securely. By leveraging this repository with advanced AI in medical imaging, researchers aim to fast-track healthcare advancements while prioritizing data privacy.
