The UK's Centre for Sight has launched an "Eye Health MOT" service offering a consultant-led assessment designed to provide reassurance and detect early signs of eye disease before symptoms appear.
The Eye Health MOT is a proactive clinical evaluation “using advanced diagnostic technology to identify early signs of conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular disease and corneal problems, supporting timely intervention and long-term eye health planning."
“Many people assume that if they can still read and drive, their eyes must be healthy but that isn’t always the case,” said Sheraz Daya, Founder and Medical Director at Centre for Sight. “Our Eye Health MOT is designed to give patients confidence and peace of mind, using some of the most advanced diagnostic testing available to detect early changes and guide the right next steps. It’s about helping people stay in control of their eye health, rather than waiting for problems to develop.”

Like a full-body health check, the Eye Health MOT gives patients a clear and detailed picture of their current eye health, with results reviewed by expert clinicians who understand the realities of early detection and preventative care. Testing includes vision checks at distance, intermediate and near, as well as full refraction and a visual field test to assess peripheral vision and identify potential early indicators of glaucoma or neurological concerns.
Eye pressure and corneal thickness are measured as part of glaucoma risk assessment, followed by a dilated examination and full consultant review, with recommendations provided where clinically appropriate. Following the appointment, patients receive a detailed Eye Health Report, which can be kept for personal records or shared with other healthcare professionals.
Centre for Sight adds that the Eye Health MOT is particularly suitable for patients aged 40 or over who want reassurance about their eye health, have a family history of eye conditions, or would benefit from a calm, thorough and consultant-led assessment.
